I absolutely love this natural orange wine by Scotty-Boy!. The flavors are bright, different, lemony with notes of melon and peach.

Winemaker Scott Sampler has an eclectic background starting from his childhood. He grew up in LA in the 1970s with an Italian-American mother and African- American father. He migrated north to attend UC Berkeley where he become inspired by the food and farm culture of the Bay Area. He left briefly to go back to LA to work in the film industry but winemaking kept calling his name. He was eager to get back to the life of food, cooking and wine.

He started his own label, Scotty-Boy! fine wines and super-coolers. These wines are all about the grapes and not adding anything to them. Scott lets the wine shine on its own by carefully sourcing grapes from small family vineyards that don’t use any chemicals and are biodynamic and organic.

This specific orange wine is delightful and very approachable for new orange wine drinkers. It has a playfulness to it while still being nuanced. I love it on a nice sunny day, with a cool breeze and maybe some oysters or a poached shrimp salad.
